This is one of the very few largish boats we saw here. We have been surprised to learn how very different - and marginal - the resource based economy is here as compared to Greenland where fishing is a major economic factor.

We looked up the word hamlet….and the word defines a settlement that’s rural and smaller than a “village,” generally with a population under 100. Resolution’s year-round population is about 275….and, incidentally, has an annual average temperature of 4 degrees fahrenheit.The hamlet’s seal says much about what counts here….

The Stores up here do not have much. What they do have is very expensive..Our Food order was 40% food and 60% freight costs!!But we should not complain as the produce received was excellent.

The modifications to the boat have worked as well as we hoped.. The Fly enclosure is warm and dry and the aft cockpit enclose by Antigua sails is like gaining another room. The test though will be this week with Snow forecast as well as strong NNW winds taking temps here to -6c….
Masterful Docking at Makeshift Fuel Float/Barge, Resolute

After we left Beechey at 0600..We seem to love that hour. We proceeded 50nm West to the main Town in the Area. Resolute. As the weather was still kind we re-fueled immediately both the Boat and the Tender fuel. Dropped garbage..And picked up the supplies we ordered a month ago. Fuel was good and the Chef’s Raya and Adrian were happy with the produce they received.. So We are ready to continue… They drove a fuel truck down to the edge of the dock and pumped the fuel onboard in about an hour..Very Efficient.
