We must have seen almost a dozen kids playing with toy boats, most hand-made, down at the harbour. Given that much of their lives will likely revolve around hunting from their future boats, these “games” take on a greater significance.
Although we fail in recalling the Inuit word for it, The People call Arctic Bay The Pocket, which is easily understood once one beholds the snug anchorage, the surrounding hills and, we think best of all, the encompassing warmth of everyone here.
The wind has been up the last 2 days. Strong from the South but we sit nicely at anchor off the town The beach landings are a bit troublesome but we are limiting those. The dust in the back ground is a plane landing at the airport. Ethan has gone on to London to have a wisdom tooth pulled as there are no facilities here in the North for any medical issues. We are about a week sail away weather permitting from any Hospital.. So it was best to handle it now.
Boxy and his grateful Fan Club We learned of a sticky problem with a new Suzuki outboard and Boxy gave it his diagnostic attention as well as lent suggestions to the far-distant outboard dealer. Major mechanical problems can be devastating when so far removed from dealers.

Perhaps upsetting to many, we must remember that this is a hunting society…always has been and always will be. Besides, a bag of dog food is ridiculously expensive, truly unthinkable.
We’ve only seen a couple of cars here….transportation is all about ATVs, snowmobiles, pickup trucks and boats.
